🌱 Big update for Progression, redesign, and command discovery
This update brings a brand-new way to make your server feel more active: Progression is now available in nyx.
Members can earn XP by chatting, level up over time, check their rank, climb the leaderboard, and unlock reward roles as they stay active in your community.
We also gave the public site and dashboard experience a bigger visual pass, with cleaner pages, better mobile navigation, and a more consistent layout across nyx.
✨ New Progression plugin
The new Progression plugin adds message-based leveling for your server.
You can now give members XP as they chat, with controls for how much XP they earn and how often they can earn it.
Progression includes:
- message-based XP gain
- configurable XP per message
- XP cooldowns
- channel rules for where XP should count
/rankfor personal rank cards/leaderboardfor server rankings/xp addand/xp set-levelfor staff adjustments
The goal is simple: make activity feel visible, rewarding, and easy to manage.
🏆 Reward roles for active members
Progression also supports automatic reward roles.
You can set role rewards for specific levels, so members can unlock milestones as they participate more in your server.
Reward roles can work in two ways:
- stack roles, where members keep every role they unlock
- highest only, where members only keep their highest earned reward role
This gives you flexibility whether you want a full progression ladder or a cleaner role setup.
📣 Level-up announcements
You can also enable level-up announcements when members reach a new level.
Announcements can be sent in a specific channel, use a custom message, and optionally disappear after a set amount of time.
Message templates can include:
{user}{username}{level}{xp}{server}
The dashboard includes a live preview, so you can see how your announcement will look before saving it.
🧭 Progression dashboard
Progression has its own dashboard page now, making setup much easier.
From the dashboard, you can manage XP rules, reward roles, announcement settings, and channel rules without needing commands.
You can also preview rank cards and announcement messages while configuring everything.
If something is misconfigured, nyx can now show helpful Progression setup warnings, like missing announcement permissions or reward roles that the bot cannot manage.
🎨 Website and dashboard redesign
The nyx website has also received a broader redesign pass.
The homepage, install page, commands page, updates pages, and legal pages now share a cleaner structure with more consistent spacing, typography, navigation, and footer layout.
Mobile navigation has been improved too, so browsing nyx from smaller screens should feel smoother and less cramped.
This redesign is not just about making things look nicer. It should make nyx easier to scan, easier to understand, and easier to move through when you are trying to install the bot, check commands, read updates, or manage your server.
📚 Better Commands page
The public Commands page has been improved to make command discovery clearer.
Command pages now show more useful details, including:
- command options
- subcommands
- cooldowns
- required user permissions
- required bot permissions
- clearer usage examples
- copyable command examples

💬 Better /help
The in-Discord /help command has also been improved.
It now has a cleaner overview, better plugin browsing, and more useful command details, so members and staff can find what they need faster without digging through a huge list.
🎲 New /8ball command
The Fun plugin now includes /8ball.
Ask a question, get a playful answer, and let nyx make the prediction.
🔔 Product update DMs
Server owners can now choose whether they want to receive product update DMs from nyx.
There is a new notification setting in the dashboard profile page where update DMs can be turned on or off at any time.
🛠️ If something looks off
This update touches a lot of visible parts of nyx, especially Progression and the redesigned site pages.
If you run into bugs, layout issues, confusing behavior, or anything that does not feel right, please contact us through the nyx Discord or email support at [email protected].

💚 More to come
This update is about making nyx feel more rewarding, clearer, and easier to explore.
Progression gives communities a new reason to stay active, command discovery is better, and the redesigned site should make everything feel more polished from the first visit.
More soon.
